Finding joy and wellness through song!
The Sounds of Joy Wellness Choir was founded October 2019 by Colleen Cox, a Board Certified Music Therapist, who wanted to use music to help adults living with traumatic and acquired brain injuries, cognitive impairments, early onset Dementia, Parkinson’s and other brain disorders “find joy and wellness through song.” Colleen knew that singing was beneficial to memory and to retention of voice strength, volume and intonation. Perhaps even more importantly, Colleen knew that the bonds of friendship and mutual support were key to remaining positive and proactive when faced with a diagnosis of Dementia.
